Henry's magnificent journey from the blacksmith's workshop to the royal court in the medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is one of the largest Czech gaming projects of all time. In the book The Art of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II you will learn how such a project is created and you will see hundreds of drawings, concepts and interesting facts. On approximately 300 pages, the artbook will offer extensive insight into the creation of the medieval landscape, the design of the period-accurate Kutná Hora and adjacent villages, and behind the scenes of the creation of a number of popular characters. Of course, there will be no shortage of hares! Like the artbook for the first part, the book is being produced by Xzone Originals and in close cooperation with developers from Warhorse Studios.

Just like the art book for the first instalment, this book is being created under the Xzone
Originals label in close collaboration with the developers at Warhorse Studios. Spanning
approximately 300 pages, it will provide an in-depth look into the creation of the medieval
landscape, the design of the historically accurate town of Kutná Hora and its surrounding
villages, as well as behind-the-scenes peek into the development of many beloved characters.
And, of course, the hares will make an appearance as well. A standout feature is the addition of
several expandable panoramic pages, showcasing the stunning work of the art team.

„The first art book was incredibly successful, with thousands of copies sold across Europe. It was
our first book, and since then we have made significant progress in producing our own projects,
which is why we aim to significantly surpass the bar we’ve set. We believe The Art of Kingdom
Come: Deliverance II
will become one of the most successful titles of Xzone Originals.
That’s why we’re preparing the art book not only in Czech but also in an English version,”
says Martin Schovanec, the founder and co-owner of Xzone.

The art book wouldn’t be complete without intriguing insights from the developers themselves,
that is why it will include a foreword by the studio’s founder and creative director of the project,
Dan Vávra, as well as the art director Viktor Höschl. The afterword will be written by the second
founder of Warhorse Studios and a gaming legend, Martin Klíma.

„The aim of concept art is to design an environment for designers into which they can place the
game. For such an environment to be not only visually appealing but also functional, it requires not
only artistic skills but also an understanding of technical limitations and the overall concept of the
game. In the case of KCD2, this is further complicated by the effort to reconstruct real locations.
Even more so because these are historical and often vanished sites. Thousands of icons and a
custom font were created for the game to ensure they work well in game while also reflecting the
medieval setting. The aim of the art book is not just to create a collection of illustrations but to
showcase the entire range of challenges and their solutions. The book includes a wide variety of
materials – from rough sketches to technical drawings and detailed digital paintings,” says Viktor
Höschl from Warhorse Studios.
